Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) (Adults) - Burlington & Online
Andrea Brown is a qualifying registered psychotherapist licensed by the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She works with clients at our Burlington office and online throughout Ontario. She provides psychotherapy to adults presenting with posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, and anxiety. She has extensive experience and training in working with military veterans, public safety personnel, and healthcare providers.
Andrea completed her Master of Science degree in Psychotherapy from McMaster University. She completed her PhD degree in Applied Social Psychology from the University of Guelph. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals.
In addition to her work at Brookside Therapy, Andrea works in the Trauma & Recovery Research Unit at McMaster University, where she conducts trauma-focused research with public safety personnel, healthcare providers, and military members/veterans. Since 2015, Andrea’s research focus has been on mental and addictions research and evaluation, with a specialty on healthcare workers, military sexual trauma (MST), and posttraumatic stress disorder. Additionally, Andrea holds the position of part-time Assistant Professor in the Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences Department at McMaster University.
Andrea has experience with several psychotherapy modalities, including cognitive processing therapy (CPT), cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), dialectic behaviour therapy (DBT) skills training, mindfulness, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Andrea has a client-centred therapy and trauma-informed approach that uses evidence-based therapies to assist clients to achieve their goals.
Andrea’s clinical work at our office is provided under the supervision of Jeff Sica, Registered Psychotherapist.
